Anyone happens to know a novel/book about magic as in performing for entertainment.?

I am searching for novels/books about magic.
Not magic as in the hocus pocus fantasy stuff but as in performing and entertaining people.
The best example i can give is 午前零時のサンドリヨン (Cendrillon at midnight)
Its about a girl who performs magic as hobby to entertain ppl.
There is some more plot stuff about a mysterious incident but there is a big focus on the magic (from what i could read with google translate)
However, like you seen, the book is japanese and there is no way to get it translated here.
I was hoping there is something similar like that in english.
It can be either about a rising magician or some other plot, as long there is a big focus on the magic part, not just a convenient intro.
Best would be about a girl but i would be happy enough to find just one or two.
Just to make sure, it has to be a story in some way or form, not a biography or just a book with magic tricks.
I can't think of one (though it's mentioned in some of the Harry Dresden novels. Dresden is a "real" wizard but his father was a stage magician.)
Have you seen the "Jonathan Creek" TV show? I looked to see if it was based on a book, but it isn't. But it was the first thing I thought of when I read the question.
