Opening Adobe Acrobat crashes my PC, even when reloaded, and old version removed?
I am using Windows XP, have several times gotten rid of my old version and installed the new, but when I open a PDF (even as a file, not in a Web browser), I hear my PC whir and "strain", system resources get used up, programs close, my online connection ends, and then my PC locks up. Help! I'm thinking maybe I contributed to the problem too when I tried to fix it and removed some Adobe related software that came built in with the PC (IBM ThinkPad) when I bought it, in the system folder?
If you give me the right answer, I'll even email you a free, fun magic trick on the Web as a thank you...
You might be missing some important Windows system files. Try this:
1.Use the System File Checker tool to scan all of the protected files on your computer:
a. Click Start, and then click Run.
b. In the Open box, type sfc /scannow, and then click OK.
Note that you may be prompted for the Windows XP or Windows XP Service Pack 1 installation media.
